PR LIFE // There’s a quote about working as a PR consultant that goes something a little like this…”a publicist’s job is never done”!
This thought is centred in the reality that there are always more opportunities to unearth – with more time and more budget. There’s always more coverage you could pursue or posts to place. And always more gold to discover if you continue to look. But it can also dovetail into a mindset that the great results you’ve secured for your clients or your business with the resources you have is never enough. Or on a much deeper level that you, yourself are not enough.
Working in PR and digital or in business at-large can lead to constantly being switched ‘on’ and in work mode. And often becomes layered with a feeling that you could always be doing more.
We’re conscious of this ‘never-enough’ trap and healthy boundary setting is an important skill in making it long-term in a competitive industry to avoid burnout. Take a moment to celebrate your daily progress no matter how big or small.
Whatever business you’re in, make sure you plan in some self-care time this weekend, disconnect, slow down and do something important to you personally that will re-ignite those passion projects or simply take time to rest.
