If you’re asking yourself ‘does my business need a blog?’ then the answer is yes.
A blog allows you to tell your story, share your brand personality, own your content and strap horsepower to your website. Did you hear that?! Let me repeat the most important part of that sentence. Via a blog you can ‘own your own content’. And so you should. It’s yours, you created it. Quite simply if you pour your heart and soul into publishing content to your social media platforms i.e. your company Facebook page – at the end of the day Facebook owns that content, not you. In other words it’s a complex relationship, not on your terms.
So why not put the original long-text form of that content into your company blog, improve your organic search, and drive traffic to your website which in turn builds consumer/brand awareness. After all your website should be the living, breathing meeting place and brand-space for your business. Your website is where your content can forever be found. Layer upon layer, your dedicated efforts building content is working harder for you.
The website should be the holy grail of content/copywriting – it should be a living, breathing hub of storytelling which is forever changing and evolving; connecting real people to your business through words and visuals, time and time again. Investing in your website via a blog is like investing in what should be the hardest working employee of your business – it works, even when you are sleeping!
